happy birthday you old goat!
Many thanks for a wonderful event! Friday was special visiting with old friends and I wish I attended earlier reunions since I did not attend New Canaan High. I enjoyed the highlighted places to visit and the new Grace Farms. Breakfast earlier would have helped my travel plans. Someone brought up combining classes and that sounds like a great option. To the reunion planning team bravo!
Gary I am looking forward to the class reunion and have a lot to talk about. My son is an educator presently at Mason Prep, Charleston, SC but will take a new job as dean of students in Sao Paulo Brazil. This is a new American school called The Avenues. The first school opened up in Manhatton in 2012 and they plan on opening a total of twenty American schools around the world. www.avenues.org

Peter J. Murphy III EASTON — Peter James “Piper” Murphy III, a long time resident of Easton, Md.,
died Aug. 25, 2014 of natural causes at the home of his sister, in Southport, Conn. Piper was born
in 1944 to Peter James Murphy, vice president of Stone & Webster Securities, and Arden Beavers Murphy, in New Canaan, Conn. He was a graduate of the New Canaan High School Class of 1963 and received his BA from Nichols College, Dudley, Mass., in 1967, serving as senior class president. While at Nichols Piper received awards for ice hockey and went on to coach youth hockey while earning his MBA at American University graduate school. In 1968 Piper married Cookie Kirchwey, also of New Canaan; they subsequently divorced but remained lifelong friends. In 1985 Piper married Elizabeth
Hardy of Easton. They subsequently divorced. Piper was an avid sailor for patrons of the New York
and Annapolis Yacht Clubs, making several trans-Atlantic trips on Alliance; SORC, Jubilee, including a
Harrowing race on Mary II. Piper’s love of the land, waters and opportunities on the Eastern Shore kept him there for the next 45 years, working as a real estate broker in Easton with Walsh & Benson, Stafford and Murphy and O’Connor, Piper & Flynn. Piper was a lovely man, with a delicious sense of humor and infectious zest for life, and he will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched. His mother, his father and his young brother Kevin preceded Piper in death. He is survived by his devoted sister Gaylord Meyer and her sons Henry von L Meyer IV, and Brooke de Beaupre Meyer. Funeral arrangements will be private.
